Wow. Where did October go?

Amazingly enough, it's almost the end of October. Whew. No sooner did I get back from my nice weekend away then I drove head-first into getting ready for my first opera without Jill (Jill Anderson, founding General Director of our opera company). While I was confident of my abilities, it is still always a little nerve-wracking to try something as big as this for the first time.

I can safely report that so far, all is well! It's been a very busy, very exciting couple of weeks. Lots of late evenings, but no major bumps in the road! Not that this is a ME thing! Putting on an opera is a BIG team endeavor- it's just my honor to be able to help oversee it.

On the home front, Dorothy has been having some difficulties coping with the 'residuals' from her brain injury - problems with short term memory, etc. I don't want to go into it, but we have hired tutors to get her through this period, and I'm so thankful for the assistance they've been giving her. I say this just so it can be understood that we aren't done with this yet. Although Dorothy is her cheerful self (Thank you, God!), she is still dealing with things.

You should see her adorable haircut, though. Sweet.

A weekend away!

I finally get to have a little mini-vacation weekend. My friend Carolyn & I are heading to San Fran for an Arts Marketing conference today, and will return in a couple of days. We're going up today even though the conference doesn't start until tomorrow so that we can have a play day! Of course, it WOULD be raining today... But since I love the rain, I think it's just fine.

Dorothy gave me strict instructions to stop at our favorite bakery in Chinatown, the Mee Mee Bakery. Hopefully we can make it over to that part of town!
